VAINASIKA
Buddhist nihilist teaching vinasa.
VAIRAGYA
The second of the 4 means for acquisition of spiritual wisdom. This means dispassionate condition. Also known as renunciation.Vaasana Latent impressions of feeling created by an experience, but not producing direct results like karmasaya.
VALAYATA
Sphere of closeness to God. Actually this refers to the condition of the aspirant in the Brahmanda or Macrocosmic region.
VANARA
Monkey. The hill tribes of Southern India, who formed an alliance with the hero of the Epic, are represented as Vanaras.
VEDA
The most ancient and holiest scriptures of the Hindus.
VEDA
The greatest and most profound spiritual literature of world spirituality; of philosophia perennis. There are four Vedas, Rg, Yagus, Saama, and Atharvana with their brahmanas and aranyakas belonging to different branches or sakhas. The yajus samhita itself has two rescensions, the Krisna (Black) and the Sukla (White). The Upanisads also belong to the different Vedas. Training in the recitation and retention of the Veda method of recitation is arduous and continuous, and is also governed by strict discipline. Interpretations of the Veda demand siksha, jyotisha, nirukta, vyaakarana and kalpa training. Vedic education is for spiritual enlightenment and intuitive divinisation.

Merging into discarnate state. Videha mukti - liberation after giving up one' s body; pretya.

Karna's bow.
VIJNANA
Supermind.
VIKALPA
A form of vague conception possibly erroneous or dubious.
VIKSIPTA
Restless.
VILWA
A tree bearing an edible fruit.
VINA
The lyre.
VINIYOGA
Offering or application.
VIPARYAYA
Erroneous Knowledge.
VIRAAT
Macrocosmos.
VIRYA
Spiritual energy that is creative. One of the qualities of God.
VISESA
Peculiar, or particular or unique and individual.
VISPHULINGA
Emanating like sparks - creation is compared to this sparking out of the centre.
VISUDDHA CHAKRA:
Throat chakra. Pure state. The last of the knots in Pind desh.
VIVARTA
Inverted or reverted. Invertendo principle reveals this process which is not unreal but inverting the positions. In the Vedanta of Sankara it is the principle that causes illusory appearance. Inversion is both locational, such as lateral inversion, and essential. The achit appears as chit and chit appears as achit. A principle of Maaya.
VIVEKA
The first of the 4 means for acquisition of spiritual wisdom. This means development of spiritual discrimination.
