CIRCULAR

You are all aware that the participants of Sri Ram Chandra's Raja Yoga (Sahaj Marg) celebrate every year Basanth Panchami (Adi Guru's Birthday) and most importantly our Great Master's (Revered Babuji's) birthday celebrations during the month of April every year. However, another important celebration, the birthday of Lord Krishna (Sri Krishna Jayanthi) which used to be celebrated with utmost devotion during the lifetime of Rev. Babuji Maharaj is almost forgotten and ignored, but for by a few serious disciples of Sri Ram Chandraji who respect the tradition and Master's instructions. All the Bhandaras/Celebrations are unique and have got their own importance. They are essentially to express our devotion, love and gratitude to the Master's and rededicate ourselves with commitment to propagate the message of the Master through our sadhana and "Bodhayanti Parasparam".

The importance of Sri Krishna Jayanthi would be clearly understood from the following paragraphs culled out from the Great Master's letters to Revered Dr. K. C. Varadachari and Master's Autobiography.

'JANMASTHAMI-BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF LORD KRISHNA'
(Autobiography-part ii vol iii dt.19.8.1945)

(Rev. Lalaji Maharaj's instruction to Revered Babuji Maharaj)

"Letters be issued to everybody that every year from now onwards, the first day of Lord Krishna's birth anniversary be celebrated by observing a fast. Light meals be taken only once during the day and attempt be made to keep one's thoughts pious and virtuous".
(Generally Lord Krishna's birthday is celebrated on two days in India by two different sects of Hindus. The orthodox adherents of scriptures viz., the house holders observe it on the first day, while the more liberal ascetics - Vaishnavites observe it on the next day)

Extracts from "Letters of Master Vol.l"

"We would be observing complete fast on 28th August, 1956, the auspicious Janmasthami day in honour of Lord Krishna's birthday and would be devoting ourselves entirely to prayer and meditation for whole day as usual".

"We have observed fast on Janmasthami (03.09.1957) as He (Lord Krishna) is the head of the sanstha. It is the system of the ancients to connect the link of the sansthas with the last avatar (Lord Krishna). Moreover, we get light from Him for the work directly".

"Lord Krishna is the Head and supreme patron of our sanstha and the name 'Sahaj Marg' came direct from Him. The very words echoed distinctly through vibrations received direct from Him".

"I am reminded of Lord Krishna's predictions inter communed to me sometime ago, that the time has not yet come for the people to have a full understanding of your existence (Revered Babuji Maharaj's) though it shall definitely come but only when you have given up the material form".

"Lord Krishna is of course very kind to us and I am always confident that His power is always at work at my request. It is He who has named the samstha. It is He who had sent me to South India in 1945, entrusting me with some important duties there. He is quite satisfied with my work and I was amply rewarded".

"Observance of fast during Sri Krishna Janmasthami is the order of my Master. The instructions were issued accordingly. Almost all satsanghis in India used to observe fast on that specific day. Now, this year (1968) by the permission of my Master, I have withdrawn this order for North India alone. Our South Indian brothers will observe the fast as they used to do. The reason is that inspite of my continuously
explaining to north Indians that it is not utsava but religious rite, they have begun to think it to be utsava. It is also taken as utsava then the importance of Basanth Panchami Utsava will be lost. A few people of North India sometimes said that since they could not attend Basanth Panchami utsava they will attend the Sri Krishna Janmasthami Utsava".

From the above paragraph one can understand how much importance Revered Babuji Maharaj used to give to His Master's birthday celebrations (Lalaji Maharaj). In this connection, regarding the importance of Basanth Panchami, one may refer to the instructions of Swami Vivekananda - Autobiography Part II, Vol. 111, dt.1.2.1949 (7.30 pm).

Swami Vivekananda - "Look here boys! You are here assembled to commemorate the auspicious birth of our Revered Master (Samartha Sadguru Lalaji Saheb). This is the most important function for the mission. It will remain being celebrated at all time till the world exists. This is the note for the coming generations".

Everyone has to understand that Revered Babuji Maharaj is the Eternally present Supreme Personality in whom all the previous Masters, Lord Krishna have merged. Our prayers and orientation would be and should be to Revered Babuji Maharaj only.

In this connection one may refer to Autobiography Part II, Vol. II Diary note of 12.10.1944 (Rev. Lalaji Maharaj to Rev. Babuji Maharaj).

"I am telling you a very great secret, viz., in a way you possess Lord Krishna's mergence in you. This came to your knowledge only today. This thing got transferred by itself. I am very happy".

Rev: Lalaji Maharaj to Rev. Babuji Maharaj (Autobiography Part Il, Vol.ll Dt.12.10.1944
"All initiations shall be effected on my hand, and their connection shall be (invariably) with Lord Krishna. At the time of initiation a promise will be made to the effect that all that Lord Krishna has enjoined as matters of principle, shall be observed (by the initiated disciple). This I am laying down for the future".

"From this day onwards, whomsoever He (Ram Chandra) will transmit to, he/she will get connected to Lord Krishna. This is the very first connection, that will start with Him (Ram Chandra). The condition contains somewhat greyish green hue in it". (Autobiography Part II Vol II note of 25.10.1944).

"A new kind of transmission will start with dear Ram Chandra which is to be designated as 'Ganga Jamuna' i.e. combination of my (Lalaji Maharaj) and Lord Krishna's transmission".

While discussing about Avatars Revered Babuji Maharaj has said in 'Voice Real'.

"I do believe in the theory of Avatars and Lord Ramachandra was one of them. He was of immense help during his own regime. But with the advent of Lord Krishna, the regime of Lord Rama was over. It is now the regime of Lord Krishna which is to continue till the next Avatar comes into the world. Nobody has yet come after Him as Avatar. So, in this respect we are all connected with Him now. This is the phenomenon of nature which I bring to light for your understanding".

Accordingly the INSTITUTE OF SRI RAM CHANDRA CONSCIOUSNESS, Hyderabad would be celebrating "Sri Krishna Jayanthi" on 14th August 1998. On that auspicious day there would be satsangh from 6.30 pm at 4th Floor, Laxmi Towers, Road No.6, West Marredpaily, Secunderabad. All the members of the Institute of Sri Ramchandra Consciousness are invited to participate in the Satsangh. Outstation Abhyasis who cannot come to Hyderabad are requested to celebrate the same at their respective residences at the scheduled time i.e. from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm on 14.8.1998.

Dear brothers and sisters, all the above extracts from the autobiography of Revered Babuji Maharaj and from letters of Master to Rev. Dr. K. C. Varadachariji clearly show the position of Lord Krishna and the need to observe fast on Sri Krishna Jayanthi day along with prayers and meditation. So, let us from this pre- centenary year of Revered Babuji birthday celebrations celebrate the Sri Krishna Jayanthi day as instructed by the Great Master.

You are requested to bring this to the notice of every abhyasi in your centre.

HYDERABAD Yours in the service of the Master
